Boom Lift Hydraulic Service

Boom lift hydraulic systems rely on pressurized fluid to actuate lift, extension, and steering functions. Failures often present as leaking hoses, slow or jerky movement, cylinder bypass, or loss of holding pressure due to valve or seal failure. Typical repair scenarios include pinhole leaks in high-pressure hoses, scored piston rods in lift cylinders, and worn seals leading to fluid bypass—issues that, if ignored, cause drift, movement hesitation, or uncontrolled retraction. / Atlas arrives with portable hydraulic hose crimpers, a range of SAE, JIC, and metric fittings, and hose stock for immediate line replacements. Cylinder repairs involve rod inspection, seal replacement, and piston measurement with the cylinder removed and bench-serviced when necessary. Control valve diagnosis is performed using pressure gauges and flow testers at test ports, tracing faults to sticking spools, contaminated seats, or solenoid malfunctions. Fluid samples are inspected for metal contamination and water ingress. Repairs can be completed in the field for most hydraulic faults without transporting the unit. / For telescoping booms and articulating platforms, safety protocols include system depressurization and lockout-tagout for elevated work. All repairs are pressure-tested to working specification before returning the lift to service.
