Undercarriage Service

Undercarriage service addresses the highest wear components on tracked machines. Excavators, bulldozers, compact track loaders, and skid steers all rely on a track system composed of track chains, shoes, rollers, idlers, sprockets, and tensioners. Failure modes include worn pins and bushings (track stretch), cracked or missing track shoes, seized rollers and idlers, damaged sprocket teeth, and leaking final drive seals. Excessive wear increases ground pressure, uneven digging, or risk of de-tracking under load. / Field inspection starts with measurement of pin and bushing wear, track shoe thickness, roller condition, and sprocket tooth profile compared to OEM specs. Tension is checked at the midpoint and adjusted via grease-filled tensioners or manual/manual adjusters. Leaks at idler seals or final drives are identified by visual oil residue and component temperature checks. / On-site undercarriage repair involves breaking track chains to remove worn sections, pressing out pins and bushings as required, torch removal of seized pins if necessary, and installing new rollers or idlers from inventory. Sprockets are replaced where tooth profile exceeds allowable hook or tip wear, preventing track skip and loss of drive force. All work is performed with portable tools and lifting gear to minimize downtime. For dealers and shop-based repair, moving a machine with a failed undercarriage can be impossible without special trailers or cranes—mobile service provides a critical advantage.
